Di Shaw

Di is experienced in assisting organisations, communities and individuals to learn and adapt in a constantly changing world.

Di has more than twenty years experience working in senior management in federal (National Museum of Australia), state (WA Department of Arts and Culture) and local government (Joondalup and Geelong) and in the three companies that she has co-founded with Brian Peddie – Deckchair Theatre Company, Working Bodies and most recently Shaped Outcomes.

As a Director of Shaped Outcomes, she has developed and facilitated planning workshops with government, NGOs and private industry about adaptive strategies, mitigation of climate change and resilience in the face of change.

As a Director of Working Bodies, she provided advice on social and cultural planning, community engagement, research and analysis. She developed and implemented community engagement strategies including, creative workshops, cultural projects, one-on-one interviews, questionnaires and town hall meetings. She then analysed all data collected and developed policies and plans.

She has managed and produced activation programs for city centres including Fremantle, Joondalup, East Perth and Geelong.

Di co-founded Deckchair Theatre Company with Brian Peddie in 1983. She was the Company’s Artistic Director till 1987, and was awarded a Creative Development Fellowship in 1989.

Di holds a Graduate Diploma, and is currently completing a Masters Degree in Sustainability Studies, including Deliberative Democracy, with Curtin University, where she previously studied for a Bachelor of Arts. Di trained in and has been a practitioner of Mindfulness Meditation and the Feldenkrais Method for
many years.
